Come alive

This week, I’m reflecting on the inseparable nature of the individual and the collective. Some might read it as permission to follow your bliss — and it is. But the assumption is that YOUR bliss is inextricably tied to the good of the collective. The inherent belief that what makes you come alive will be beneficial to others turns the notion of the narcissistic pursuit of personal interest upside down.  The bliss that nurtures the collective cannot be a small thing. It cannot be a selfish — “I do what I want” or “If I am happy then others will be, too”.

No, this kind of bliss pushes us to come alive — to do the things we were meant to do. And to do them boldly.  It heightens the responsibility of your bliss — don’t bliss out in small ways. Do it big, and do it for others.

Come alive.

Has there ever been a time when that is more needed? When our planet and people are dying from decisions we have made in the past and are still making today, we have the responsibility to live in a way that helps others.

What could a world of alive people do?  What could we be for ourselves and for each other?
