2018 Shift Capital Summit

2018 Shift Capital Summit

Our work to build healthy, equitable local economies is complex. Many different people must come together, explore their relationships to each other, and coordinate across the ecosystem that makes up a community, to address shared challenges.

If you seek to create local economies that work for all, you have a role to play.

At the BALLE Shift Capital Summit, we will strategize together on how to accelerate the flow of financial and social capital to the visionary leaders who are doing critical work on the ground across North America.

Funders endlessly debate where grants and investments might go to achieve the greatest positive impact. Investors seek deals offering “market” returns aligned with evolving strategic priorities in a changing landscape. Academics and industry experts theorize about how we arrived at a place where the wealthiest 1% own 50% of the world’s total financial wealth.

The BALLE Shift Capital Summit is where people come together to take action.

"As a community, we’ve been hosting conversations that matter for a long time now, knowing we’ve been operating in settings of complexity. Today the stakes are higher. New levels of complexity are calling us to something more—an involution and an evolution. In the context of increasing fragmentation and disconnection, how we are together and how we meet our very real differences matters more than ever. In Columbus Ohio from June 1-5, 2018, we gather to build a space in which we all belong and we are all welcome, and we will find community."

THE KEYNOTE: SHARED WORK

Often, the differences between collaborators—different perspectives, backgrounds, ideologies and aspirations—becomes the focus of meetings rather than getting work done together. In this webinar, Tim and Tuesday will present the Shared Work model, which emphasizes getting to work and offers up important stances to take in our collaborative work.

THE SESSION: WORKING WITH POWER

Most of us know that to make change in our organizations and communities we have to skillfully work with power.  In this webinar, Tim and Tuesday will talk about the different kinds of power and identify some key questions to engage in as we work to increase our capacity to make change.  We'll also move toward a new way of thinking about power as we do our work.
